Sangamon County has an active rescue squad again.
The county suspended rescue squad activities in July after determining that members did not have the proper certification to provide emergency medical care. After arranging for multiple training sessions over the past eight weeks, the county now says a majority of rescue squad members have obtained Emergency Medical Responder certification or higher, and can therefore resume their duties.
Additional training sessions are still being held for members who have not yet obtained the proper certification.
