Pritzker Campaign Questions Newspaper’s Relationship With Political Consultant’s Newspaper-Style Ads

Governor JB Pritzker’s campaign says it will not take part in any candidate forums sponsored by a suburban Chicago newspaper until it gets some answers about the paper’s business relationship with a conservative political operative with ties to Pritzker’s GOP opponent.

Paddock Publications, the owner of the Daily Herald newspaper, acknowledged that it contracted with Dan Proft’s Local Government Information Services to print and mail out political publications that are designed to look like newspapers. Pritzker’s campaign says the publications are “fake and misleading” political attack ads that are designed to dupe voters. While Pritzker says he will still talk to reporters from the newspaper, he will not participate in its forum until it discloses the full nature of its dealings with Proft.
