The Republican nominee for Illinois governor says schools around the state are “teaching racism” by being mandated to discuss critical race theory.
Darren Bailey calls CRT “un-American” and says he has seen “first-hand” how it’s been implemented in some classrooms. But in a live interview on WMAY, Bailey could not provide any specific examples of school districts where critical race theory is being taught. Bailey pledged to provide that information, but so far his campaign has not responded to requests for additional details on the candidate’s claims.
Teachers’ unions have said the CRT debate is politically-motivated and is being used to unfairly target public schools and teachers.
