At Least Six Dead, Dozens Hurt In Shooting At Illinois Fourth Of July Parade

Six people are dead and more than two dozen have been wounded in a shooting at a Fourth of July parade in Highland Park, north of Chicago.

Authorities identified 22-year-old Robert “Bobby” Crimo III as a “person of interest” in the shooting. Crimo was taken into custody late Monday afternoon.

It appears the gunman climbed a ladder and opened fire from a roof overlooking the parade route. Police reportedly recovered a gun at the scene.

More than 25 injured people were taken to nearby hospitals. One hospital said it was treating victims ranging in age from 8 to 85.
