Coroner: County Jail Inmate Died Of Natural Causes

A 23-year-old Sangamon County Jail inmate who fell ill in April and later died at a Springfield hospital died of natural causes.

Coroner Jim Allmon says Dylan Schlieper-Clark died of complications from meningitis, according to autopsy findings. While he did have a small amount of illegal drugs in his system, Allmon says it was not enough to be a contributing factor in the death. Schlieper-Clark was transported from the jail to Springfield Memorial Hospital on April 14th and died there three days later.

Sheriff Jack Campbell says Schlieper-Clark did not show any particular symptoms of illness when he was booked in the jail, less than 24 hours before he was found unresponsive.
