A Springfield firefighter is out of the hospital after being treated for apparent overexertion while battling a barn fire Friday west of the city.
Firefighters faced multiple challenges while trying to put out the blaze that destroyed the barn in the 71-hundred block of Old Jacksonville Road. Live ammunition that was being stored in the barn began to explode because of the heat of the fire… and crews also had to deal with a limited water supply, a nearby propane tank and downed power lines.
No other injuries were reported from the fire. There’s no word yet on a cause.
