Police Union Reacts To Investigation Of Cop’s Alleged Racist Posts

With an investigation now underway into alleged racist and anti-Semitic posts by a Springfield cop, the city’s police union has issued a statement condemning bigotry and bias.

The Police Benevolent and Protective Association Unit 5 says it is legally and ethically bound not to comment directly on the investigation into the officer, who has been placed on unpaid leave and stripped of his police powers.

But the union says it is committed to upholding the law in an unbiased and professional manner, and pledges to work to “heal the rifts” between law enforcement and the community.
