12 people are hurt, but are expected to recover, after a bus crash on snow-covered Interstate 55 south of Springfield Friday morning.
State police say the bus was northbound at milepost 79 around 6:30am when it slid off the road into the median and overturned. 12 occupants were taken to area hospitals, but their injuries are not life-threatening. Seven other people were transported by state police to a safe location. There was no immediate word on where the bus originated or where it was headed.
There were multiple other vehicles off the road because of the overnight snow, including a camper that overturned and was heavily damaged on eastbound I-72 near Illiopolis.
