Springfield High Student Charged In Anti-Semitic Graffiti Incident

A Springfield High School student is facing hate crime and other charges in connection with anti-Semitic graffiti found at the school last week.

The unnamed 16-year-old student is also facing charges of disorderly conduct and criminal defacement of school property in Wednesday’s incident. Sangamon County State’s Attorney Dan Wright says the teen is being held in the county Juvenile Detention Center and will undergo a psychological threat assessment while awaiting his next court hearing.

Wright says his office is committed to prosecuting those who commit crimes that target people based upon race, religion, or similar characteristics.
