ISP Trooper Sent To Hospital After Scott’s Law Violation

An Illinois State Police squad car that was assisting in a DUI stop near Bloomington was struck by another allegedly impaired driver, sending the trooper to the hospital with minor injuries.

State police say the trooper’s car was on the side of the road with flashing lights activated when it was rear-ended by a car. That driver, 24-year-old Michael Tibbitts of Bloomington, was cited for DUI and a Scott’s Law violation.

It was the ninth crash so far this year where a trooper was struck by someone who failed to move over for the emergency vehicle.
