It could be a pivotal endorsement in the Democratic primary for Illinois Secretary of State.
Longtime incumbent Jesse White, who is not seeking re-election after 24 years in office, has thrown his support behind Chicago City Clerk Anna Valencia. Valencia is one of at least three Democrats hoping to succeed White, a group that also includes former state Treasurer Alexi Giannoulias. Valencia has also gotten endorsements from U.S. Senators Dick Durbin and Tammy Duckworth.
Appearing live on WMAY, Valencia said White has big shoes to fill… and she wants to fill them with high heels, as the first woman to hold the office of secretary of state.
