As a winter storm threatens to drop as much as eight inches of snow, the City of Springfield has declared a snow emergency.
Because of the heavy snowfall in the forecast, cars are required to be moved off of designated snow routes immediately, to allow plenty of room for plows and snow removal equipment. Cars that are not moved from snow routes are subject to being towed. The designation is currently set to remain in place until 7am Friday. Springfield residents and businesses are also reminded that, under city ordinance, they are supposed to clear snow and ice from the sidewalks.
