Congressman Rodney Davis’s office is defending his travel after a video surfaced of an airline passenger chastising Davis for flying first-class during the government shutdown.
In video provided to the Huffington Post, the unidentified passenger asks Davis if it’s appropriate for him to fly first-class while TSA agents go without pay because of the government shutdown. Davis does not answer the man, who also asks if the flight was taxpayer-funded.
A Davis spokesperson tells the website that taxpayers picked up the cost of a standard coach ticket for Davis, but says he was bumped up to first-class because of his frequent-flyer status, at no additional cost to taxpayers.
