An objection has been filed to the petitions for one candidate in next year’s Springfield city elections.
The State Journal-Register reports an ally of Ward 6 Alderman Kristin DiCenso has filed the objection against DiCenso’s opponent, Elizabeth Jones. One allegation is that Jones has an unpaid parking ticket… and people who owe the city money are ineligible to run for city office. But Jones says she’s paid the ticket.
The other objection states that Jones lists the general election date rather than the primary date on some of her paperwork.
The city’s election board will schedule a hearing on the objection.
