Governor Bruce Rauner is leaving office with criticism of the legislature… and fear for the future of the state.
In a press conference in Springfield… one of only a handful of appearances since his election defeat… Rauner blasted lawmakers for some of their veto override votes, including one that will raise the cap on claims against the state to $2 million. Rauner says that increased cap will hurt taxpayers and invite an onslaught of litigation against the state.
And Rauner says he’s scared for the future of Illinois now that Democrats will once again be in control of the legislative and executive branches. Rauner says “the folks who put Illinois into a financial quagmire are now back in complete control.”
