A group of Chicago clergy are calling for a full and transparent investigation of the shooting death of a black security guard at the hands of a white police officer last weekend.
But those same clergymen also say the white officer should be fired. The officer was responding to a report of a shooting at a bar in the town of Robbins early Sunday when he opened fire on Jemel Roberson. Roberson was working security and was armed… and had subdued the actual shooter when the officer shot Roberson.
The ministers say the shooting fits an all-too-familiar pattern of black people being presumed to be criminals when they have done nothing wrong.
