Authorities in suburban Chicago say an officer who was responding to a “shots fired” call mistakenly shot and killed an armed security guard who was also trying to respond to the shooting incident.
Police had been called to Manny’s Blue Room in Robbins early Sunday for a report of shots fired. When they arrived, an officer shot and killed 26-year-old Jemel Roberson. Roberson was working as an armed guard and had subdued the initial suspected shooter when he was fatally shot. Four other people suffered minor wounds in the initial incident.
Police say the shooting is under investigation.
