Investigators are still trying to determine the cause of a fire that took the life of a young child in Riverton early Wednesday.
Crews responded to the fire in the 1400 block of North Third Street around 1:45am and found an adult male badly burned. The body of three-year-old Johnathon McDonough was found inside after the fire was put out. Coroner Cinda Edwards says he died from effects of the fire, including carbon monoxide poisoning.
She says a final ruling on cause and manner of death is pending the outcome of the fire investigation and lab tests.
