U.S. Senator Dick Durbin is calling for the expulsion of Saudi Arabia’s ambassador to the U.S. until an independent investigation of the death of journalist Jamal Khashoggi is completed.
Durbin is part of a growing chorus on Capitol Hill who are skeptical of Saudi claims that Khashoggi died in a fistfight that erupted as he was being questioned in the Saudi consulate in Istanbul.
In fact, Durbin says outside of the Saudi government, the only person who appears to believe the Saudi explanation is President Trump.
Durbin is also calling for full disclosure of any financial ties between the Trump organization and the Saudi kingdom.
