Sangamon County Republicans are bringing in another big name for the party’s annual Lincoln Day event early next year.
The State Journal-Register reports that Oliver North will be the featured speaker at the event at the BOS Center on February 6th. North was a key figure in the Iran-Contra scandal whose convictions on obstructing a congressional investigation and other charges were later overturned.
He became a popular conservative author and commentator, and previously hosted a radio talk show heard on WMAY.
North is now the president of the National Rifle Association. Ticket information is available by calling the Sangamon County GOP headquarters.
