The debate between the contenders in the 48th Illinois Senate District got testy at times Monday night.
Democratic incumbent Andy Manar and Republican challenger Seth McMillan faced off in the forum jointly sponsored by the State Journal-Register and WMAY. McMillan accused Manar of playing a role in prorating school funding for years… and then attacking McMillan for local school cuts that had to be made because of lost revenue. Manar responded that he was a staffer, not a senator, during those years and didn’t get a vote… and said there has been no proration during his time in office.
The candidates also clashed on abortion rights, energy policy, and even on their respective choices for governor.
