Springfield’s Schools Chief Seeks Public Support For Tax Referendum

Springfield’s school superintendent is trying to drum up public support for a tax referendum in November to raise money for school facility construction.

Superintendent Jennifer Gill talked about the need for revenue and how the money would be spent in a presentation Friday to the Citizens Club. She says the proposed countywide one-percent sales tax would not apply to most groceries, medicine or vehicle sales… but would be applied to gasoline, clothing and other items.

Gill says the money is needed to create modern school facilities that fit the district’s vision for the future.
