Search teams have recovered the bodies of both men who went missing Sunday during an outing on Lake Springfield.
The two were reported missing around 2pm Sunday when the rest of their group could not locate them. The first body was recovered later in the day Sunday, but the second was not found until around noon Monday. The victims are identified as 51-year-old Peter Sidener, who was recovered Sunday, and 60-year-old Michael Daugherty, whose body was found Monday.
Springfield Fire Chief Allen Reyne says choppy conditions on the lake made the search more difficult.
[ORIGINAL STORY FROM SUNDAY 9/2/18:] Search crews have located the body of one man… but are still searching for another who disappeared in the waters of Lake Springfield Sunday. The Springfield Fire Department has not released details about how the two men disappeared just south of the City Water Light and Power plant, but say the search was complicated because the waters on the lake were so choppy Sunday.
Multiple agencies are assisting in the search.
