The former Chicago cop accused of murder in the shooting death of a black teenager could have his bail revoked or increased. Cook County prosecutors filed that motion against former Officer Jason Van Dyke after he gave two media interviews in a case that’s under a gag order.
Van Dyke claims the prosecution against him on murder charges is politically motivated. He’s accused of shooting Laquon McDonald 16 times in 2014. McDonald was carrying a folding knife and had refused police orders to drop the weapon, which was closed at the time he was shot. Van Dyke was the only officer who opened fire.
