Governor Bruce Rauner is blaming state tax rates for a worse job creation record on his watch than under former Governor Pat Quinn… even though tax rates were higher during Quinn’s term.
Appearing on WCIA Channel 3’s “Capitol Connection,” Rauner said job creation efforts were hurt by the “headwinds” of a tax hike. But tax rates fell just before Rauner took office… and when lawmakers approved an income tax increase last year, the rate was raised to just below where it was during Quinn’s last four years in office
. Rauner says companies are fearful of House Speaker Mike Madigan’s control of legislation and his refusal to enact government reforms.
