Illinois’s statewide unemployment rate is down again. The jobless rate fell to 4.2 percent in July as Illinois added more than 37-hundred jobs, the sixth straight month of job growth.
The July rate was down one-tenth of one-percent from June… and eight-tenths of a point lower than it was one year ago. State officials chalk up the improved numbers to a more competitive economy and reduced red tape.
The biggest gain came in the manufacturing sector, which added 24-hundred jobs in Illinois last month.
