Authorities have identified the man who they say held police at bay for six hours Tuesday before finally surrendering. 20-year-old Marcus Monger is facing multiple charges, including aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, aggravated assault on a police officer, possessing firearms without a FOID card, and resisting a peace officer.
Police had been attempting to serve a felony warrant on him at an apartment complex on Seven Pines Road when shots were fired.
Monger had only been paroled from prison just two weeks earlier. He eventually was taken into custody peacefully and no one was injured. Monger is being held at the Sangamon County Jail.
