A group of former state employees is suing Governor Bruce Rauner’s administration seeking to get their jobs back. The eight former IDOT employees were among a group hired under former governors Rod Blagojevich and Pat Quinn.
They were political hires who eventually transitioned into non-political jobs. Rauner’s team moved to fire them… claiming they were part of an illegal patronage scheme.
But now the attorney for the eight workers, Don Craven, tells Illinois Public Radio that the firings were political, because the workers were Democrats or refused to align themselves with the Rauner administration. The suit was filed Friday in federal court in Springfield.
