If the U.S. Supreme Court overturns Roe versus Wade, a third party candidate for governor says he would sign legislation to outlaw abortion in the state… but he doubts that such a bill would ever be sent to his desk.
Sam McCann is running as part of the newly-formed Conservative Party. Appearing on the WMAY News Feed, McCann says his pro-life views are well-established and he would support legislation to stop abortion if the issue is thrown back to the states.
But McCann says there’s almost no chance such a bill could pass the legislature. Lawmakers last year approved a measure that was signed by Governor Bruce Rauner to keep abortion legal in Illinois even if Roe is overturned.
