President Trump is headed for Illinois later this week.
Trump announced over the weekend that he will visit Granite City on Thursday to see the reopened U.S. Steel plant there. 800 workers were called back to their jobs after Trump imposed tariffs on steel and aluminum imports from other countries.
The visit poses a political dilemma for Governor Bruce Rauner… who has sought to embrace some of Trump’s policies while keeping his distance from some of the President’s more controversial statements and actions. Rauner says he will not join Trump in Granite City on Thursday.
