It’s raising eyebrows… even by Illinois standards.
A Chicago mayoral candidate is being criticized after handing out $300,000 in cash to prospective voters after a campaign event… with Governor Bruce Rauner in attendance. And candidate Willie Wilson says some of the money that was handed out came from Rauner, who had donated $100,000 to Wilson’s nonprofit foundation.
Wilson says the money was intended to help out people who are struggling to pay for food, medicine and utilities. But critics say it looks like a payout intended to sway voters. Rauner says he was not aware that money would be handed out and says it’s inappropriate to do so.
