A Republican state lawmaker has been named the new director of the Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services. Patti Bellock had already announced that she would not seek re-election this year.
She will take over the agency that oversees the state’s Medicaid program and efforts to transition to more managed care.
Bellock replaces interim director Teresa Hursey, who will stay with the agency. Former director Felicia Norwood left last month for a job in the private sector.
