A historic preservation group is traveling as much of the classic Route 66 as it can in an effort to raise public awareness… and spur action by lawmakers… to protect what’s left of it.
The National Trust for Historic Preservation plans to live-stream its road trip so that supporters can see some of the remaining sights and attractions.
The group left Chicago in an Airstream trailer Monday and will make stops in Springfield Tuesday and Wednesday. It plans to reach Los Angeles in about five weeks. You can learn more about the effort at preserveroute66.org.
