The “sky bridge” that will connect St. John’s Children’s Hospital with the new outpatient women’s and children’s center will go up Wednesday night. HSHS St. John’s says the pedestrian walkway will be lifted into place with trusses, floor beams, roof beams and the bracing system already assembled.
Structural engineers will be on hand during and after the installation to ensure safety.
The project will force the closure of Ninth Street from Carpenter to Madison from 8pm Wednesday night until 5am Thursday morning, with an additional overnight closure next week. The new facility and sky bridge open this fall.
