The head of the legislative commission that studies Illinois’s fiscal outlook says the prognosis is not exactly rosy.
Clayton Klenke of the Commission on Government Forecasting and Accountability says most analysis points to modest growth for the next year or two but that growth is expected to taper off. That’s because of several factors, including Illinois’s continued budget problems and the exodus of people leaving for other states.
The forecast creates even more challenges for lawmakers trying to craft a balanced state budget.
