An environmental group claims City Water, Light, and Power customers could be saving significant money, if the utility purchased power rather than produced it.
The State Journal-Register reports the Sierra Club is continuing to push for the closure of Springfield’s coal-fired power plant and a move to purchasing power from the grid. The group says the typical CWLP residential customer would save about $215 per year in such a move.
City and CWLP officials have not commented on the report’s claims.
