Lawmakers have gotten some things done as the spring legislative session ends. The General Assembly gave final approval to a school funding reform bill sponsored by state Senator Andy Manar.
Manar says it’s a long-overdue step to fix what he calls the least equitable funding system in the country.
But Governor Bruce Rauner has already suggested he will veto the bill, despite calling school funding reform a top priority. He says it amounts to a bailout of Chicago’s troubled school system.
