A young woman’s obituary is making an enormous impact locally because her family used it to bluntly describe the woman’s losing fight against heroin.
24-year-old Sammi Cody-Neuhoff of Chatham died last Friday, along with her unborn daughter Aadinynah Grace. The obituary attributes the death to Sammi’s heroin addiction and details how she became hooked on the drug after trying it just once. It also says she died just three days before she was supposed to go into rehab.
Family members used the obituary to encourage others to get treatment if they are on the drug and to plead with people who are not using heroin to never start.
