Governor Pat Quinn has signed a law that requires school districts to provide age-appropriate lessons to children about how to avoid sexual abuse and assault.
The new law is named “Erin’s Law,” after a Schaumburg woman who was a victim of sexual abuse as a child and now works as a victims’ advocate.
Local officials say the new law won’t change much here, since the Sangamon County Child Advocacy Center has been offering similar instruction in local schools since the early 1990s.
