Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan wants a second opinion on Illinois’s ban on carrying concealed weapons.
The state ban was overturned last month by a three-judge panel of the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals. But Madigan wants the ruling to be reconsidered by the full panel of judges on the appeals court.
She says the ruling contradicts some other appeals court decisions and goes beyond earlier precedents set by the U.S. Supreme Court.
Despite the request for a rehearing, the state remains under a 180-day deadline to craft a new law allowing citizens to carrying concealed firearms.
