Springfield Aldermen Contemplate Defying State Law

Springfield aldermen are discussing whether to defy a state law that mandates the adoption of stricter building codes. 

 

Local developers say the tougher rules could add thousands of dollars to the cost of any new construction. 

 

Aldermen have asked city attorneys to research what, if any, penalties the city would face if it chooses not to adopt the new standard.
