Numerous victims receive calls, purportedly from their bank, claiming the victim's debit card has been deactivated because of fraud, then seeking the card and PIN number to "reactivate" it; police say it is a hoax, and advise people to never give out credit or debit card numbers to a solicitor over the phone; at least eight people have been targeted by the scam locally so far
