8:30AM 5:00PM Figurism: Narrative and Fantastic Figurative Art   Figurism: Narrative and Fantastic Figurative Art brings together historical and contemporary body-based art by over fifty artists from the Illinois State Museum collection. The exhibition emphasizes the power and the range of the narrative and expressive uses of the figure in Midwest art. The artworks were selected to create a better understanding and consideration of different representational styles and the ability of the figure to carry feeling, memory, and experience. They were also selected with an eye toward something fantastic—a heightened sense of the super-real or super-natural—whether through aggressive, expressive form, high-keyed color, inventive graphics, or ambiguous situations. The Museum is open from 8:30-5:00 Monday through Saturday and from 12:00-5:00 on Sunday. Admission is free. Parking is available nearby and the building is ADA accessible. For more information contact Jim Zimmer at 217-782-7440.

We have planned a full day of free fun and activities for everyone! This fun-filled family day starts at 1 p.m. where the kids will be greeted by Hobo The Clown and all his crazy wonderful balloon animals! Miss Chanell will be hosting a kids crafting table where she will not only help the little ones make a present for mom/dad, but teach them how to wrap it to put under the tree! While the kiddies play, mom and dad can shop some of our local vendors. Delight in original art, paintings, sculptures, jewelry, candles, t-shirts, sift through a mini flea market, or pick up gift certificates for psychic readings and family photo shoots! Afterward the family can get together and take part in Family Karaoke with J.C.B Entertainment! Then at 3 p.m., guess who?? That’s right! Santa! Santa will be here to take pictures with the kids and has his own activity table where he will sit down with the kids and together they will create candy cane crafts while Santa tells the Candy Cane Story! Then be sure to be ready for dinner at 5 p.m. sharp! Mama’s Kitchen has graciously offered to donate half of all the food sales made between 5 and 6 p.m. to the total proceeds of the day’s event!
