  All Day Holiday Book Drive   The 4th annual Holiday Book Drive will take place during the month of November. New books for children (ages birth to age 12) are being collected and will be distributed at Christmas time to needy children in the area, You can help by dropping off new books at one of the following sites: Chatham Area Public Library, Chatham Presbyterian Church, Rochester High School, Rochester Elementary (2-3 building), Williamsville Library, Williamsville Methodist Church, Sherman Elementary, Trinity Lutheran Preschool Auburn, State Journal Register, Safe School Program (Capital Career Center), or Bridge Club of Springfield. Checks may be made out to Holiday Book Drive and sent to Bank & Trust P.O. Box 228 Chatham, IL 62629. Every dollar donated will go directly to the purchase of new books.

Every month, without exception, we will showcase downtown shops, restaurants, art galleries and pubs. Walk around and explore downtown’s 60 venues owned by local entrepreneurs, driven by their commitment to downtown and our community. You'll find new exhibitions, live music, great deals and fun surprises, too. Our thriving urban center is home to unique boutiques and outstanding restaurants. First Fridays are a great time to experience the historic beauty and ambiance that is unique to the Capital City. Gather your friends and family, and join the party every First Friday, 5-8pm. You're bound to meet old acquaintances and find a new favorite shop, restaurant or place to unwind. Follow the Flags Every First Friday. Each participating downtown business will be provided a flag like the logo above for display on in their window, awning or door!
  6:00PM 10:00PM 10th Annual Comedy in the City   Friday, November 1st, 6:00-10:00 p.m. Northfield Inn Formal dinner begins at 7:00, cash bar, silent and live auctions, raffles, and entertainment by Josh McVicar-Magician/Comedian. All proceeds stay local and benefit the Pregnancy Care Center of Springfield, Inc.
  6:00PM 10:00PM Springfield YMCA Trivia Night   Trivia Night at the Firefighters Lake Club. Table of 10, $10 per person. Cash prizes, BYO snacks, no outside beverages, cash bar.
