  All Day Lions Club Rain Barrel Fundraiser   As a new fundraiser this Spring, the Springfield Noon Lions Club is selling rain barrels at discounted prices. Plastic 55-gallon rain barrels are available in black, blue, grey, and terra cotta for $70. Oak 54-gallon rain barrels are available for $155 if they are unfinished and $170 if they are refinished. Accessories such as downspout diverters and pedestals are also available. The brochure and order form can be viewed at www.springfieldnoonlions.com. Color photographs of the rain barrels are available at www.upcycle-products.com. Orders will be taken from April 1 until May 10. Rain barrels will be available for pick up on May 18 from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM at 829 South 11th Street, Springfield (at the former Glass Specialty location). Customers of City Water, Light & Power may be eligible for a $25 rebate.
 
  8:00AM 9:00PM Lap and Swim Hours   The Springfield Park District will be offering after school lap swim hours beginning March 1 at Eisenhower Pool (2351 E. Cornell St.). Spring Lap & Family Swim hours at Eisenhower Pool are as follows: Lap Swim Hours Monday - Friday 7 – 9 a.m., 11 a.m. – 1 p.m./ Monday, Wednesday and Friday 3:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m./ Monday and Wednesday 8:30 p.m. – 9:45 p.m. / Sunday 9:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. Family Swim Hours: Friday 7 – 9 p.m./ Sunday 2 – 4 p.m. For additional information, please contact Bob Barrett at 525-8847 or by email at bobbarrett@springfieldparks.org .   7:30PM 9:30PM DNA Music   On Thursday, April 25, the Illinois College Departments of Music and Biology will commemorate World DNA Day in a collaborative program titled “DNA Music.” The program begins at 7:30 p.m. in Rammelkamp Chapel and will celebrate the 60th anniversary of the discovery of deoxyribonucleic acid, otherwise known as DNA, with a showcase of the artistry of music and science in fun. Admission is free. Abby Musgrove, assistant professor of music and director of choral activities, will lead the Illinois College choirs in performing music that is inspired and derived from DNA and protein sequences, with some songs written by students and faculty from the college. Showcasing the sciences during the program will be led by Laura Corey, assistant professor of biology.
