  All Day 5th annual Disability to Possibility Conference   The 5th annual Disability to Possibility Conference will be held on Saturday February 23rd at Springfield High School. You can register on the district website or at the door. Registration is open at 8:00am and our Keynote address is at 9:00am. Michael Gaines is our keynote speaker and he will share his story of his challenges with his learning disability. He was diagnosed as dyslexic in his sophomore year of high school. Michael is a respected member of our community and he currently serves as the Corrections Coordinator for the Division of Infectious Disease with the Illinois Department of Public Health. He is the recipient of many awards and he also serves as a board member of the Illinois Literacy Volunteers. We also will have 5 breakout sessions, covering the topics of Autism, Attention Deficit Disorders, the ABC’s of Transition, Mental Health, and Advocacy issues. In addition we have a number of Exhibiters, including IATP. The event is free of charge and free child care will be provided. In addition, a free lunch will be provided for attendees and door prizes will be raffled, including a mini i-pad. The event is sponsored by Springfield Parents for Students with Disabilities, Illinois Assistive Technology, and Springfield Public Schools.
  All Day Spotlight On Ice "That's Entertainment"   Springfield's very own ice show. A family friendly event sponsored by the Springfield Figure Skating Club. Tickets available at Springfield Schnucks and Nelson Center Ice Arena or at the door. $10 adults 13 and over and $5 kids.
  All Day "PROM It Forward" Event   From March 11 – March 23, donate your gently used formal gowns and gown accessories – all styles and sizes welcome at the Springfield YMCA. Vintage, classic or retro! Help make somebody's Prom extra special this spring Then join the Springfield YMCA for the "Prom It Forward" event on Saturday, March 23 from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Every girl dreams of the perfect prom. This free pre-prom event will include door prizes, health and beauty inspiration, picture perfect tips, prom vendors and a collection of gently used gowns to choose from.
  8:00AM 9:00PM Lap and Swim Hours   The Springfield Park District will be offering after school lap swim hours beginning March 1 at Eisenhower Pool (2351 E. Cornell St.).   8:00AM 12:00PM Annual Pancake and Sausage Breakfas   Everyone is invited to partake as The Lincoln Memorial Gardens and Nature Center hosts their annual Pancake and Sausage Breakfast in the Nature Center. The event also features a Silent Auction fundraiser stocked with treasures and services donated by individuals and area businesses. The breakfast will be held two consecutive weekends in March, the 16th-17th and the 23rd-24th. Breakfast will be served on those Saturdays and Sundays from 8 a.m. to Noon. The auction offerings will be on display in the Nature Center throughout. Reservations are necessary for this popular breakfast to avoid the possibility of being turned away. Cost is $8 for adults and $5 for children under 12. Please make reservations by calling 217-529-1111.
  7:30PM 11:00PM All The King’s Women   All The King’s Women, by Luigi Jannuzzi. This is the life of Elvis Presley, told through the eyes of women. Some enthralled! Some appalled! All obsessed! A fast paced series of 5 comedic plays and three monologues. This show is sure to be a “rockin” good time! Show will be performed at the Jacksonville Theatre Guild at 210 West College. Thursday thru Saturday performances begin at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday matinees are at 2 p.m. For more information please call 217.245.1402.
  8:00AM 12:00PM HRZ's Breakfast with the Easter Bunny   The Easter Bunny will be making an appearance on Saturday, March 23rd at the Henson Robinson Zoo for Breakfast with the Easter Bunny. The event will be held from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. A continental breakfast will be served and egg hunts will be held for kids 12 and under. The Easter Bunny will be available for photos throughout the morning. Visitors will also be able to observe as many of the zoo’s animals receive special treats. A limited number of special grand prize eggs will be hidden around the zoo for families to search for as exploring the zoo. The cost is $9 per adult and $7 per child for residents of the Springfield Park District and zoo members or $10 per adult and $8 per child for nonresidents. Reservations and prepayment are required.   9:00AM 12:30PM Easter Egg Scramble & Pancake Breakfast   Easter Egg Scramble & Pancake Breakfast South Side Christian Church's MacArthur Campus will host a pancake breakfast and Easter Egg Scramble! Breakfast will be served from 9-10 and kid's activities will begin at 10. Activities will include bounce houses, games, face-painting, crafts, snacks, door prizes and egg hunts for babies through 5th graders! This is a free event for the whole community.   2:00PM 4:00PM Writers Group Meeting   The Springfield Writers Group will have its March meeting on 3-23-2013 at 1335 South Diamond in Jacksonville, IL. The theme of the meeting will be The Creative Process: The Vignette. If you come, please bring 5-7 copies of your work with you, as well as snacks.   7:30PM 11:00PM “A Golden Collaboration”   Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra and Chorale presents “A Golden Collaboration” located in Rammelkamp Chapel on the Illinois College Campus at 7:30 p.m. Tickets will go on sale two weeks prior to the event and will be available at Jacksonville County Market Foods for $15.00. Tickets will also be available at the event.
  7:30PM 11:30PM Kidzeum's Dueling Piano Bar   Join us on Saturday, March 23rd at the Inn at 835 in Springfield for a fun-filled evening of drinks, hors d’ oeuvres and dueling pianos with Robert and Sara. Robert and Sara are not your mom’s dueling pianos! They met one fateful day while working as entertainers at a theme park, and once they began collaborating on a variety of musical projects, they found that the world of dueling was calling their names. Based in Chicago, Robert and Sara have been dueling together for four years, and have played high-class clubs, fundraisers, and dive bars all over the Midwest. They bring a dynamic, fresh perspective to the traditional idea of dueling pianos, with a repertoire ranging from The Temptations to Queen to Lady Gaga.
