Gems Beat Sliders in Quincy


The Sliders opened up their five-game road trip with a loss against the Quincy Gems.

 

It was a slugfest for both teams but the Gems got the advantage with a lucky 13 runs to the Sliders 9.

 

The game came right down to the ninth inning with the Sliders hoping to get an upset victory, but the Gems held them off with a relief pitcher striking out the final two Sliders’ batters.

 

The two team square off again today in Quincy.

Cavemen Break Sliders Streak


The Hannibal Cavemen snapped the Sliders four game winning streak last night, beating Springfield 15-9.

 

Taking an early lead and holding on, the Cavemen racked up ten runs by the fifth inning.

 

The Sliders couldn’t make up the deficit even with consistent runs through the rest of the game.

 

After hosting several home games, the Sliders will now be on the road for the next five. Today’s game is against the Gems in Quincy.

Sliders Beat Cavement in Bottom of 9th


The Springfield Sliders edged out the Hannibal Cavemen Tuesday 9-8 at Robin Roberts Stadium.

 

An early Sliders lead lasted throughout the game but was threatened by the Cavemen in top of the 9th when their bats woke up and ran in 7.

 

That gave the Cavemen the lead, but not for long.

 

All the Sliders needed were two more runs.

 

With bases loaded, two outs on the board, the sliders walked one in and got a line drive for another giving them their 4th victory in a row.

 

The Sliders take on the Cavemen for a rematch today at Robin Roberts Stadium.

Sliders Hold Off To Beat Danville


The Springfield Sliders secured their third win in a row Sunday beating the Danville Dans 8-7.

 

The Dans were able to get three runs off the Sliders starting pitcher but the Sliders bounced back in the fifth inning where they hit and ran in five.

 

Three Sliders errors ended up giving the Dans three runs, edging close to taking the game back, but the Sliders held them off for the win.

 

The next Sliders game is at Robin Roberts Stadium Tuesday against the Hannibal Cavemen.

Bombers Wake Up Late To Beat Sliders


It was a close game as the Dubois County Bombers beat the Springfield Sliders Thursday at Robin Roberts Stadium.

 

The Sliders opening pitcher allowed some walks early but then held off on allowing any hits until the 6th inning.

 

After securing a tie in the 3rd inning, the Sliders were able to get several more runs giving them the lead.

 

But the Bombers came back to life and got 6 more runs in 8th and 9th innings to win 7-4.

 

The two teams meet again today in Indiana.

Sliders Beat Terre Haute


Despite trailing by three runs early in the game, the Springfield Sliders came back to beat the Terre Haute Rex 10-8, giving the Sliders a split for this week’s two-game series.

 

The Sliders were down 4-1 by the second inning but quickly came back to have a multi-run lead throughout the rest of the game.

 

For the season, the Sliders and the Rex each have two games a piece.

 

Tomorrow, the Sliders welcome back to Robin Roberts Stadium the Dubois County Bombers.

Terre Haute Rex Edge Out Springfield Sliders


The Terre Haute Rex edged out the Springfield Sliders, 7-6, in the first of a two-game series at Robin Roberts Stadium.

 

Both teams’ starting pitchers allowed multiple runs and were relieved early.

 

Even with bases loaded in the sixth inning, the Sliders were unable to make up the one-run deficit.

 

The second game of the two-game series against the Rex is tonight at Robin Roberts Stadium.

Sliders Lose Weekend Games Against Quincy Gems


The Springfield Sliders lost two games to the Quincy Gems Sunday.

 

After being rained out Saturday, the Sliders and Gems played two seven-inning games in Quincy—both of which the Gems snagged victories.

 

The first game, the Gems got 5 runs to the Sliders’ 3. In the second game, the Gems racked up a whopping 13 runs to the Sliders’ 7.

 

The Sliders have today off but go head-to-head for a two-game series with the Terra Haute Rex Tuesday at Robin Roberts Stadium.

Sliders Beat The Rex


The Springfield Sliders can notch another victory in their belts as they beat the Terra Haute Rex Thursday, 11-7.

 

In the first of a two-game series at Robin Roberts Stadium against the Rex, the Sliders had a two point deficit in the first inning but quickly came back to lead the Rex for most of the game.

 

Game two of the series is tonight at Robin Roberts Stadium.

 

The Sliders are now 4-11 in the season.

Sliders Add Another Loss Against Bombers


Things were looking hopeful for the Springfield Sliders as they began loading the bases in the bottom of the ninth, but they were still unable to beat the Dubois County Bombers.

 

The Bombers only gave up 1 run to the Sliders while they racked in 3. That puts the sliders at 3-11 with a 0-4 stake against the first place Bombers.

 

The Sliders return from the road today for a two-game series against the Terra Haute Rex.

Early Lead For Sliders Squashed by Dubois County Bombers


After gaining an early lead with a three-run homer in the first inning, the Springfield Sliders fell to the Dubois County Bombers 8-5 last night at Robin Roberts Stadium.

 

Putting up 5 runs early, the Sliders were confident they could get another victory against the Bombers but Dubois County answered with a three-run homer of their own in the seventh and five runs in the eighth.

 

The Sliders are now 3-10 for the season. They’re on the road today to Indiana to take on the Dubois County Bombers.

Sliders Score Most Runs Of Their Season Beating Danville


The Sliders woke up in the 7th inning to beat the Danville Dans 15-7 Sunday at Robin Roberts Stadium.

 

Sunday’s game was a season high for the Sliders with 15 runs, but it was a split weekend for the Sliders as Saturday they fell to the Dans 11-4.

 

The Sliders have Monday off but their back at bat against the Dubois County Bombers Tuesday at Robin Roberts Stadium.

Sliders Win Second Game Against Gems


The Springfield Sliders squeeze out their second win of the season edging out the Quincy Gems 11-10 at Robin Roberts Stadium.

 

The Sliders back-to-back wins ended the Gems six-game winning streak. First baseman Matt Tellor helped secure the lead in the fourth inning by hitting a grand slam. The Sliders now stand at 2-6 for the season.

 

Their next game is on the road to Hannibal for a rematch with the Cavemen.

 

They return home Saturday for a game against the Danville Dans at Robin Roberts Stadium.

Sliders Lose Weekend Games


It was game two and another loss for the Springfield Sliders as they took on the Hannibal Cavemen at Robin Roberts Stadium.

 

The Sliders came off their three-game series against the Dubois County Indiana Bombers unable to squeeze out a victory.

 

Saturday’s home game against the Cavemen resulted in a 15-8 loss.

 

It was another loss Sunday against the Cavemen, 8-4.

 

The Sliders have Monday off and will be back at it Tuesday with a game against the Quincy Gems at Robin Roberts Stadium.

Sliders Game Postponed


Heavy rain delayed the Springfield Sliders game against the Danville Dans Thursday.

 

The teams were only able to get in two innings before the umpires called off the game because of deteriorating field conditions.

 

Today, the Sliders and the Dans will pick back up with the third inning where the Sliders have the lead 2-0.

 

Following that game, the Sliders will take on the Dans for another game in Danville.

 

The Sliders are back home at Robin Roberts Stadium Saturday to take on the Hannibal Cavemen.
