A conservative Illinois lawmaker is moving ahead with a direct challenge to Governor Bruce Rauner.
State Representative Jeanne Ives is now circulating petitions to seek the Republican nomination for governor. Her running mate is former Republican lawmaker Rich Morthland.
Ives has been harshly critical of Rauner, especially since he signed legislation allowing the use of taxpayer dollars for some abortions, but also for his fiscal management of state government.
