Treatment Advocacy Center Gives Illinois a C Grade

Illinois is making modest efforts in addressing serious mental health issues, major crimes and community treatment… but gets a C grade from the national nonprofit Treatment Advocacy Center.

The group said Illinois’ “guilty but mentally ill” verdict ensures continued treatment after a sentence is served.

To further improve, the group recommends Illinois corrections officials focus more on psychiatric security review boards and assisted outpatient treatment.
